As the end of the school year approaches and we head into warmer weather, we’re excited to welcome the sunshine—but we also want to keep our school environment comfortable, respectful, and focused on learning! Here are a few friendly reminders for students:
👕 Tops should provide full coverage
No visible midriffs, crop tops, muscle shirts, spaghetti straps, etc.
🩳 Shorts & skirts length matters
Shorts, skirts, and dresses should be no more than 3 inches above the knee.
👟 Footwear is required
Safe, secure shoes are important for busy school days—no slippers or unsafe styles.
🧢 Hats & accessories
Follow school guidelines for when and where hats/hoods can be worn.
🚫 No inappropriate language or images
Clothing should be free of anything offensive, suggestive, or disruptive.

We are looking forward to celebrating our Terrific Kids for the months of February and March! Families are invited to attend the program at 8:30 on March 26th!
The safety of our students and staff is our top priority. As part of our ongoing efforts to maintain a safe and prepared school environment and in accordance with state law, Cherokee Trail Elementary will be conducting an intruder (lockdown) drill in the coming days.
Teachers will take time to explain the process to students in a way that is calm and reassuring. Please know that this is only a practice drill, and there is no cause for concern. Our goal is to ensure that everyone in our building knows how to respond safely and appropriately should a real situation ever occur.

To begin our celebration of Read Across America Week, we welcomed some of our cherished retirees back to CTE! They visited classrooms throughout the building to read to our students. It was a wonderful morning filled with stories, smiles, and memories. We’re not sure who enjoyed it more—the students or our guest readers!

As we prepare for upcoming testing, student Chromebooks will no longer be sent home daily. This will help ensure we have enough working devices available for MAP and SC READY testing. Any damaged devices will need to be repaired promptly so they are ready for student use.
If a situation arises where devices are needed at home—such as inclement weather or additional academic support—we will have a plan in place for distribution.
Thank you for your continued support and understanding.

STEAM Night Donations Needed!
Mid-winter break will be Monday (Feb. 23) to Friday (Feb. 27). Students will return to school on Monday (March 2).
