Students in Mrs. Magaha’s first-grade class enjoyed a fun-filled week learning about pumpkins! Throughout the week, students learned about the life cycle of pumpkins, that they come in many different shapes and sizes, and there are different varieties of pumpkins! In writing, the students learned about topic sentences, detail sentences, and closing sentences. They put this knowledge to use by writing a how-to paragraph on how to carve a pumpkin. Their final pumpkin activity was to carve a pumpkin into a jack-o-lantern.
